“Spring Awakening” is a coming-of-age, contemporary rock musical based on the 1891 play of the same name by Frank Wedekind. Set in 19th century Germany, the teens of “Spring Awakening” explore attraction, desire, sex, insecurity, and the pressures of young adult life against a backdrop of a strict moral code that leads to tragedy. Winner of eight 2007 Tony Awards® including Best Musical, “Spring Awakening” transformed the Broadway genre with its explosive mix of music, honesty, and sexuality.
